Engines and performance options

The new Chevy Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD trucks can both be equipped with a standard gas-powered 6.6-liter V8 that can generate 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. For Midland and Big Spring, TX buyers who want more low-end torque you can invest in the optional Duramax® diesel 6.6-liter V8 and you'll be rolling with 470-horsepower and 970 pound-feet of torque. Every heavy-duty Chevy truck is engineered to be compatible with a single or dual rear-wheel axle.

Towing and payload

Gasoline-powered Chevy Silverado HD trucks can tow a maximum of 17,400 pounds and with the Duramax® diesel your towing capacity can reach a mind-boggling 36,000 pounds. The regular cab configuration of the Chevy Silverado 3500 HD with a dual-rear-wheel axle can haul up to 7,442 pounds. Those are the kinds of big league numbers you won't find in a standard half-ton pickup.

Technology

Lower level trims come with a standard 7.0-inch infotainment touch screen that lets you manage Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. If you move up to the LT model and higher you'll get a big 13.4-inch touch screen and wireless device charging. The Silverado HD truck lineup also offers a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Chevrolet has a collection of trailering assistance technology available with features like Transparent Trailer.

Trim level breakdown

Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD trucks offer Odessa, TX buyers five different trim levels:

• WT: The WT Work Truck gives you a choice of a gas or diesel engine, a long bed or standard bed and Regular, Double Cab and Crew Cab configurations.
• Custom: Standard equipment includes power-adjustable trailering mirrors, all terrain tires and an available 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support.
• LT: It gives you a 12.3-inch configurable instrument cluster, a large 13.4-inch color infotainment touch screen, an EZ Lift tailgate along with integrated trailer brake control.
• LTZ: Equipped with a side bed step, an Advanced Trailering System and Hitch Guidance with Hitch View and offers an available 360-degrees surround-vision camera with two trailer view cameras.
• High Country: The most luxurious Chevy HD trim comes exclusively as a Crew Cab with standard four-wheel drive. It also gives you a power up and down tailgate and safety equipment like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
